A camper in the style of the legendary corrugated iron van type H from Citroen

MOBILITY/CAMPING/CLASSIC: The Citroen Type H interpreted as a camper in a new design

Three years ago, Citroen presented the Concept Citroën Type H WildCamp at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf. The design of this motorhome is reminiscent of the corrugated-iron van, the corrugated-iron transporter Type H. The design of this vehicle is quite deliberate, of course. Quite deliberately, of course, because this van represents the French attitude to life, which was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1947. Personally, I’ve always imagined a camper that doesn’t just present pure practicality, but also transports emotions and simply radiates joie de vivre, just like the VW buses.
But here is the story:

Citroën Type H WildCamp
The Citroën Type H WildCamp presents itself as an ideal travel companion for short trips as well as for long journeys and appeals especially to the nostalgic among camping enthusiasts: The conversion partner Caselani Automobili from Italy has developed a very special „conversion kit“ made of fibreglass for the Citroën Jumper, whose design is reminiscent of the legendary Citroën Type H. The designers did not want to copy the original model. The designers did not want to recreate the original model, but to evoke memories of the now over 70-year-old automotive icon and combine them with the most modern technologies of the Citroën Jumper.

The original conversion is combined with a Citroën Pössl Roadcamp R based on the Jumper L2H2. The compact motorhome has a functional and homely interior with swivelling front seats and a two-person bench seat, which have been cleverly combined with the integrated kitchen module. The Citroën Pössl Roadcamp R is also particularly versatile and offers a large sleeping area for two people in the interior. In addition to a two-burner gas cooker, a stainless steel sink, a water canister and a refrigerator with integrated freezer compartment, the kitchen block has enough space to store cooking utensils. Various bathroom solutions leave nothing to be desired, and cupboards and drawers provide ample storage space for clothes and other luggage.
Standard equipment includes ABS and brake assist, ESP including ASR with indicator, hill start assist and height-adjustable captain’s chair seats with armrest and lumbar support.
As an option, the Citroën Type H WildCamp can also be ordered with a Poclain 4×2 traction system with limited slip differential and an Alpine 9-inch premium infotainment system with navigation system.

As a tribute to Citroën’s classic safari vehicles and vintage motorhomes, the Type H WildCamp at the Caravan Salon wears the original „Beige Gazelle“ colour from 1977. In addition, the show car on display is equipped with a BlueHDi 160 (120 kW).
