MOBILITY/MOTORCYCLE: Almost completely redesigned: The brand-new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure
The appearance of the new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure will cause quite a stir. It is not only visually that the very large GS differs significantly from its almost dainty-looking sister. Never before have seating comfort, ergonomics and wind and weather protection been so harmoniously combined with precise handling, exceptional suspension comfort and smooth running. The new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure has set itself the goal of redefining the benchmark for large adventure motorbikes. Christof Lischka, Head of Development BMW Motorrad
New benchmark for adventure and long-distance travelling
The R 1300 GS Adventure stands for the ultimate motorbike adventure and long-distance travelling. Thanks to an almost completely new construction in the areas of engine, chassis, bodywork and design, it clearly stands out from its predecessor.
Innovative chassis and electronics
The centrepiece of the new R 1300 GS Adventure is the legendary twin-cylinder boxer engine, which was already introduced in the R 1300 GS. Thanks to the gearbox located under the engine and the new arrangement of the camshaft drive, this engine is more compact than its predecessor. With a capacity of exactly 1,300 cm³, it delivers 107 kW (145 hp) at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm, making it the most powerful production boxer engine from BMW.
At the centre of the new chassis is the sheet metal shell main frame made of steel, which offers improved space utilisation as well as higher rigidity values than the previous model. Instead of the previous tubular steel construction, an aluminium lattice tube rear frame made of aluminium tubes and forged parts is now used. This is complemented by the EVO Telelever front wheel guide with flex element and the revised EVO Paralever rear wheel guide, both of which ensure even greater steering precision and riding stability.
Adaptive vehicle height and driving modes
Adaptive ride height control and ride height control comfort enable fully automatic adjustment of the ride height, which optimises comfort and handling. With four standard riding modes, including the „Enduro“ mode for off-road adventures, the GS Adventure can be adapted to different riding conditions.
State-of-the-art lighting and safety features
The full LED headlight in the new Matrix design and the auxiliary headlights ensure optimum illumination and visibility. This is complemented by modern safety functions such as Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) and the optional Riding Assistant with Active Cruise Control (ACC) and Rear Collision Warning (RECW).
Comfort and storage space
The 30-litre aluminium fuel tank not only provides ample storage space, but also effective wind and weather protection. The new aluminium cases and the top case with USB charging sockets and lighting ensure that even longer journeys are comfortable and well organised.
