Vor 10 Jahren kam die BMW R nineT auf den Markt. Genau zum 90jährigen Geburtstag der Marke. 2023 feiert das Unternehmen 100 Jahre BMW Motorrad. Mit der neuen BMW R nineT kommt die Fortsetzung der erfolgreichen Modellreihe. Natürlich wieder im klassisch puristischem Design und der Möglichkeit, noch mehr Customizing zuzulassen. Gerade die R nineT hat in den letzten Jahren gezeigt, das Individualisierbarkeit ein großes Thema bei diesem Modell ist.
Edgar Heinrich, der die BMW Motorrad Designabteilung leitet, hat gerade bei diesem Modell viel Wert darauf gelegt, das eine klare Reminiszenz an die BMW Motorräder der 1970er Jahre besteht. Man sieht das an der Kombination der Tank/Sitzbank/Heck Kombination. Diese erinnert an die /5 und R 90 S der 70er Jahre. Der Tank der neuen R nineT weist den obligatorischen Knick in der Unterkante auf und gleichzeitig hat das neue Modell Seitendeckel im Bereich des Rahmendreiecks bekommen. Für noch mehr Individualisierbarkeit bietet das Design eine in die Sitzbank integrierte LED-Rückleuchteneinheit und somit kann ein „Kurzheck“ wesentlich einfacher gestaltet werden. Andere Features sind die neu designte Aufnahme des Vorderradkotflügels und schwarz umrandete Lichtelemente beim LED-Hauptscheinwerfer.
Motortechnisch arbeitet ein 1200er luft-/ölgekühlter Zweizylinder-Boxer-Motor im einteiligen Gitterrohrrahmen. Hinzu kommt eine neu gestaltete Airbox und Auspuffanlage. Desweiteren besitzt die BMW R nineT eine hochwertige upside-down-Telegabel vorn und Paralever hinten, eine linksseitig verlegte Auspuffanlage mit Doppelschalldämpfer und konischen Endstücken sowie radial montierte 4-Kolben-Monoblock-Bremssättel mit Stahlflex-Bremsleitungen.

The tank of the new R nineT has the obligatory bend in the lower edge and at the same time the new model has been given side covers in the area of the frame triangle. For even more customisability, the design features an LED rear light unit integrated into the seat, making it much easier to create a „short tail“. Other features include the redesigned front mudguard mount and black-edged light elements on the LED main headlight.
Engine-wise, a 1200cc air/oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine works in a one-piece trellis frame. In addition, there is a newly designed airbox and exhaust system. Furthermore, the BMW R nineT has a high-quality upside-down telescopic fork at the front and paralever at the rear, a left-hand exhaust system with double silencer and conical end pieces as well as radially mounted 4-piston monobloc brake callipers with steel flex brake lines.
