Continuation of the success story: more than one million units sold worldwide within four years
World premiere for the new T-Roc: Volkswagen continues the success story of its compact crossover model with a fresh design, innovative assistance systems and extensive digital services.
The sharpened exterior design emphasises the unmistakable appearance of the new T-Roc as well as the new T-Roc R01 and the new T-Roc Cabriolet. The interior has been refined with high-quality materials, a redesigned infotainment display and the standard digital cockpit. With the IQ.Light, with LED matrix headlights, as well as the IQ.Drive assistance systems with Travel Assist and the predictive cruise control pACC, innovative technologies from higher vehicle classes are making their way into the compact SUV model family. As part of its ACCELERATE strategy, Volkswagen is thus continuing on its consistent path towards becoming a software-oriented mobility provider.

The interplay of progressive charisma, sporty performance and robust versatility has made the T-Roc a popular top seller over the past four years. With no direct predecessor, it immediately became an important pillar in Volkswagen’s product range. Since its market launch in 2017, more than one million units of the compact SUV have been delivered. Since the end of 2019, the model range has been supplemented by the particularly sporty T-Roc R01. Since spring 2020, the T-Roc Cabriolet combines the strengths of an SUV with the option of also being able to drive open-top.

Refined interior, sharpened exterior design

With an underfoamed surface and distinctive design stitching, the new instrument panel sets modern, high-quality accents in the interior of the new T-Roc. The infotainment display is now positioned on the instrument panel in the style of a tablet and is thus on the same visual axis as the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. Depending on the equipment, the infotainment display is 8.0 inches or 9.2 inches in size. The compact SUV also has a digital instrument cluster as standard, which is up to 10.25 inches in size as an optional „Digital Cockpit Pro“. The multifunction steering wheel with its new design, which is also part of the standard equipment, also contributes to intuitive operation.

The door trims now feature high-quality fabric surfaces as standard. In the „Style“ and „R-Line“ equipment lines, artificial leather surfaces are used there as well as on the armrests, which feature design stitching just like the headrests. The Style equipment line now also includes comfort seats with centre panels in ArtVelours. In conjunction with the R-Line, the top sports seats for driver and front passenger, which were previously only available in the T-Roc R, and the „Nappa“ leather upholstery are also available as options.

The exterior of the new T-Roc has been sharpened and its unmistakable crossover design is even more striking. LED headlights and darkened rear lights are standard equipment. The IQ.Light with LED matrix headlights and an illuminated radiator grille strip as well as rear lights with a new graphic structure and dynamic indicator function are offered as optional extras. Five new exterior paint finishes and newly designed alloy wheels in sizes from 17 to 19 inches offer additional customisation options.

New level of digitalisation and connectivity

With Front Assist and Lane Assist, the new T-Roc features advanced assistance systems as standard. The new „IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist“ and the predictive cruise control „Predictive ACC“ enable assisted steering, braking and acceleration at speeds of up to 210 km/h. Local speed indications can be displayed on the screen. Local speed indications, town entrances, junctions or roundabouts can be incorporated into the control system by integrating signals from the front camera as well as GPS and map data.

The third generation of the „Modular Infotainment Building Kit“ (MIB3) is used in the new T-Roc. It enables the use of a wide range of online-based functions and services. As standard, the services of We Connect Plus can be used free of charge in Europe for one year. These include natural online voice control and access to streaming services. Optionally, the functions of Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ can now also be integrated wirelessly into the control system via App Connect Wireless.

Efficient TSI and TDI engines, 7-speed DSG and 4MOTION optional

The new T-Roc’s diverse drive portfolio offers a choice of three TSI and two TDI engines. Depending on the drive, power is transmitted to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG. The 1.0-litre TSI engine with three cylinders has a maximum output of 81 kW (110 PS). The four-cylinder engines produce 110 kW (150 hp) as the 1.5-litre TSI and 140 kW (190 hp) as the 2.0-litre TSI. Two 2.0-litre TDI four-cylinder engines with 85 kW (115 PS) and 110 kW (150 PS) respectively complete the range. As an alternative to front-wheel drive, 4MOTION all-wheel drive in conjunction with the 110 kW (150 hp) diesel engine ensures particularly superior power transmission. The 2.0-litre TSI with 140 kW (190 PS) is combined with 4MOTION as standard.

Available in basic version and three further pre-configured equipment lines.

Individual preferences can be accommodated even more easily thanks to the new division of the T-Roc’s equipment lines. In addition to the basic „T-Roc“ version, the compact SUV is available throughout Europe in the newly configured „Life“, „Style“ and „R-Line“ versions. The Style equipment line shines with two-tone paint, additional chrome elements as well as ambient lighting and comfort seats in the interior. The exterior design and equipment of the R-Line are now even more closely based on the top model, the T-Roc R. The independent character can be seen, among other things, in the „Style“ and „R-Line“ models. The independent character is reflected, among other things, in a striking, sporty bumper design and a multifunction sports steering wheel with touch controls. In addition, the new T-Roc in conjunction with the R-Line has a sports package including driving profile selection, progressive steering and sports suspension. In addition, the „Black Style“ design package is available in conjunction with the Style and R-Line equipment lines. Its black design elements for the exterior and interior provide a discreetly sporty look.

The new T-Roc R: versatile performance

With its 221 kW (300 hp) four-cylinder engine, the new T-Roc R is the most dynamic compact SUV in the model family. The standard sports suspension and 4MOTION all-wheel drive also contribute to this. In addition to the striking sound, the sporty performance is also visually emphasised in the interior and by the R-specific exterior. The newly designed sports leather steering wheel features touch controls and the model-specific R button for direct access to the driving profile selection.

The new T-Roc Cabriolet: driving pleasure, freedom, joie de vivre

More intensely than ever, the new edition of the T-Roc Cabriolet signals driving pleasure, freedom and joie de vivre. As an open crossover model, it combines the robustness of an SUV with the lightness of open vehicles. The new T-Roc Cabriolet features an electrically operated three-layer textile soft top that can be opened within 9 seconds. The open-top four-seater is offered in the „Style“ and „R-Line“ equipment lines. The engine options are a 1.0-litre TSI engine with 81 kW (110 PS) and a 1.5-litre TSI with 110 kW (150 PS).

The new T-Roc and the new T-Roc Cabriolet can already be ordered at the end of this week, the new T-Roc R will be available from the beginning of next year. All models will then be in dealerships in spring 2022.

The entry-level price for the new T-Roc with 1.0 TSI engine is 23,495 euros (incl. VAT), the new T-Roc Cabriolet starts at 31,850 euros (incl. VAT) in the „Style“ equipment line with the 1.0 TSI engine.
