MOBILITY / MOTORBIKES: 13 different motorbike conversions in the BMW Customizing Contest 2022: The bikes in detail once again! Part 1

The 2022 Customizing Contest has been decided. The winning bike is the BMW R 18 Tanzanit Titan from the Cloppenburg GmbH team. Thirteen BMW motorbikes were converted by thirteen BMW partners in Germany. Eight BMW R 18 and five BMW R nineT. Here you can see the conversions again in detail:

Part 1:

Klaus Mayer GmbH & Co. KG R 18 Daytona.
The name Daytona was the programme for the conversion of the R 18 by Klaus Mayer and his team, because the paintwork of the tank, front and rear mudguards, side panels and front mask is based entirely on the legendary BMW R 90 S in Daytona Orange. A special highlight of the attractive paintwork: the aluminium brushing and white trim lines. But the R 18 Daytona is also a treat from a technical point of view. It has BMW forged wheels Contrast Cut in 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear, soled with Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra. The Remus Custom stainless steel chrome silencers with Short Cut aluminium chrome end caps provide a feast for the ears. Rizoma Club S turn signals at the rear, a Wunderlich lamp mask with Sport smoke grey windshield and a Low rear conversion round off the customising of the R 18 Daytona, of which Klaus Mayer himself says: „Despite the customising appeal, our Daytona should still be reminiscent of the classic R 18 and the origins of BMW Motorrad. Accordingly, we did not change the basic design, but individualised it with various accessories and based the paintwork on the R 90 S and the Daytona Orange, which also gave rise to the name R 18 Daytona.“

Motorrad Bögel GmbH Iron R 18.

If you immediately recognise the Iron R 18 lettering on the tank sides, you are probably also familiar with the sound of the British metal band Iron Maiden. The Iron R 18 of the Motorrad Bögel team is as unique as the style-defining heavy metal of Iron Maiden, because the conversion to a Springer fork at the front alone is usually unparalleled in the R 18 world. Garnished with a handmade bobber seat in the form of a swinging saddle, a sissy bar and Z handlebars, the Iron R 18 pursues its very own style – even with the exhaust system. It was created in-house with a steeply upward fishtail tailpipe. Big Spoke rims in 21 inch at the front and 18 inch at the rear provide not only a harmonious look but also a full driving feel for this special R 18, which has also dedicated itself to the theme of heavy metal with its paintwork, as the airbrush painting on the tank emphasises. Like the Springer fork, a technical anachronism of an unusual kind: the manual gearstick with steel helmet as gear knob.

The other conversions coming soon!
