Ultimate luxury for the future? Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100

VISION: Ultimate luxury for the future? Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100

The Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100 is the first pure automotive vision in the brand’s history.

About 100 years ago, the Art Deco era began. Now, 100 years on, the stylistic elements are again being borrowed for automotive designs that look far into the future.
Clear geometric patterns and opulence, albeit in a stricter design language, are stylistic characteristics
of the design language.

Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design:

„The Rolls- Royce VISION NEXT 100 represents this pioneering spirit and has been designed as a visionary blueprint for the luxury mobility of the future. The vehicle opens up fascinating perspectives for the future of Rolls-Royce.“

The starting point for the design process of the Rolls-Royce automotive vision was the following questions:
– What does the luxury of the future look like?
– How do you transfer the exclusive character of a Rolls-Royce into the future?
– How will the demands of the Rolls-Royce clientele develop in the future? How could they even be surpassed by the Rolls-Royce typical striving for perfection?
– How do the traditional characteristics of Rolls-Royce – precision craftsmanship, inventiveness and a love of perfection – come together with future technologies and trends to define new standards of luxury for decades to come?
– How will a ride in a Rolls-Royce remain a unique experience in the future?

While it was not intended to create a reminiscence of the past. Probably, however, the past of past models is meant. Because the borrowing from the Art Deco era is unmistakable.
Whether vehicles of this type will ever be built, at least in a modified form, remains to be seen. What I personally would miss would be the charm of the automobile of the era of that time.
