MOBILITY/MOTORBIKES: Conversion 3: Customizing Contest 2022: BMW Motorcycle Germany shows thirteen conversions from thirteen BMW Motorrad partners in Germany.
It is the second edition of the Customizing Contest: Germany is looking for the best custom bike. Thirteen BMW Motorrad partners will be showing their conversions. In 2021, there was already a very successful contest with beautifully polished designs. Based on the cruiser icon R 18.
This year’s contest also features the legendary R nineT. After all, this bike is also perfectly suited for a conversion. In total, there are eight BMW R 18s and five BMW R nineTs.
Each company had 3 months to put their ideas into practice. A short period of time, but in the process 13 very different Soulfuel bikes were created. From the oldschool heritage bike with Springer fork based on the BMW R 18 to the sporty BMW RnineT as a basic model.
The winner of this contest has not yet been decided. The community can vote until 11 December. Visitors can not only vote for their favourite to win, but will also be entered into the lottery for the BMW R 18 annual prize draw.
The conversions in detail:
Cloppenburg GmbH R 18 Tansanit Titan.
According to the motto „Go with the flow“, the team of Cloppenburg GmbH dared to convert the R 18 Tansanit Titan. The result is an exciting mix of styles with many loving details and individual solutions: classic, simple and elegant. Under the direction of Christian Gelbhardt and Kevin Gehrt, a very classically oriented R 18 was created that cannot be directly assigned to any of the established genres. Rather, it was to be simple and elegant. Driveability, comfort, ergonomics and functionality were at the top of the to-do list. Chrome-plated BMW forged wheels in 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear already provide a feast for the eyes on the rolling stock, supported by the original rear fender and carrier of the R 18 B as well as a front fender from Walzwerk. The BMW Day Rider brown seat blends in harmoniously with the original handlebars and Rizoma risers for a relaxed seating position. Also from the Rizoma shelf are the mirrors, handlebar end turn signals, the 3-in-1 Club S lights at the rear and the number plate holder. The front section and cockpit of the R 18 Tanzanit Titan live from the windshield, a headlight lowering from Wunderkind and a speedometer integrated into the tank by means of an LMC conversion, including a retractable fuel filler cap. At the rear, a Wilbers shock absorber type 640 Road with 20 mm lowering and a Fehling luggage rack are used. The delicious customising menu was rounded off with a Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde Beat Long Chrome Slashcut Chrome Extender exhaust system and a paint job in BMW Tanzanite Blue II metallic and a double hand-finish on the tank.
